I have been able to rely on my body for 20 seasons – and Bauerfeind helps me to do that.
By many measures, 13-time NBA All-Star Dirk Nowitzki has led a long, storied career. Born in Germany, Nowitzki has been a power-forward for the Dallas Mavericks since 1998, is the highest-scoring foreign-born player in NBA-history, and just passed a huge milestone of scoring his 30,000th career point.
As mentioned in an article by the Dallas Morning News, Nowitzki had never had knee issues until the 2012-13 season, when he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and missed Dallas’ first 27 games. It was following that surgery that Nowitzki began wearing the Bauerfeind knee brace. He wore it much of that season, then sporadically the next two seasons whenever he experienced pain or swelling. “It keeps the area warm, but it also puts a little pressure on it,” Nowitzki said. “When I have a swollen knee and run on it, it feels like something’s a little off. And when I have that knee brace on, it makes everything tighter and makes it feel better.
“Twenty is a great number,” said Nowitzki. “I think 20 seasons also with one team, like I’m trying to do it — I think only Kobe has done it — that’s another great accomplishment. So I kinda want to make the 20 fold. Plus I just turned 40. I think that’s also a good number to be in the league … from 20 to 40. That’s what I’m looking at. ESPN
